Advice To Clients

When you visit for the first time I shall take a detailed medical history, in order to plan your treatment. Once we have agreed on the course we are taking, you will be left alone to undress and make yourself comfortable on the couch. My first task is to make a quick examination to confirm the course of treatment and for this you lie first on your back and then I will request that you turn over. In most cases a first time visit will take the form of a full body massage, although again the decision is yours.

If you experience any discomfort during the massage let me know. Although occasionally it may be necessary to perform a massage stroke that causes some discomfort, normally massage should be an enjoyable experience.

Since I take a medical history at the first appointment, this will last half an hour longer than the treatment time. I shall inform you how long successive treatments might take and the fee involved. Allow yourself plenty of time to take things easy for an hour or two after treatment. If you drive to the appointment you might wish to take ten or fifteen minutes to rest before leaving.

Please do not eat or drink immediately before attending the clinic, within two hours, and wear plenty of warm clothing if the weather is cold or damp. Alcohol and non-prescribed drugs should be avoided for at least 24 hours before and after treatment. If you take prescribed drugs please be sure to mention these during the medical history.

During and after treatment, toxins are released from the cells into the bloodstream and lymphatic system in order to be expelled from the body. This may occasionally result in a headache or worsening of the symptoms. If this happens do not worry, it is a sign that the treatment is being effective. (If it doesn’t happen do not worry either!) However, if the symptoms persist or become severe contact me for further advice.

Please remember to contact me if you change address or telephone number so that contact is not broken.

Finally, do not get “uptight” about the massage process. Your first visit is sometimes the most awkward in terms of not knowing what to expect and that feeling will quickly disappear once you experience the benefits of massage

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
